I am about to enter the fall semester at my local university after receiving a BS in Organizational Leadership from a online, regionally accredited state college (Thomas Edison State College, Trenton NJ)
My Bachelors is comprised of 60 CLEP/DSST credits and 60 credits from TESC and my local CC college. I took Chem and A&P at the CC to explore the medical field, but was daunted by the idea of med school.
Now, I am putting the pieces together and feel I need two years of classes and study to take the MCAT.
ECs: With EMT certification, experience as a Medical Assistant and heavy, heavy volunteer record in the Red Cross and other local organizations. Have shadowed DO/MD and can easily get gleaming LOR's from half a dozen professors, DO,, MD and employers.
My question - I am about to spend a chuck of $ and time to start physics, Ochem, Bio etc...having an online degree and the Credits that I do, will I be turned away at DO admission regardless of how well I do on my upcoming classes and MCAT score?
I know this is an awkward step to take from a management degree to medical - I'm willing to put in the time, effort and money, but I don't want to take an impossible path.
Thank you for your input.
