Hi,

I know this is a taboo subject but I got charged with a DUI last year in July 2016 and am still fighting the case at this point. I am currently in the process of applying this cycle and I was wondering what my chances are to getting into medical school? What other alternatives would you suggest I do to improve my chances?

After reading some posts I am afraid that I wont even be looked at or considered. I seriously cannot see myself doing anything else. After working as an ER scribe and volunteering at a Rotacare clinic for 2 and 1 years, respectively, there is no doubt that I can see myself working as a doctor.

I'm of hispanic background, grew up "under the poverty income level," have MCAT 518, sGPA 3.26, published in 1 article JEM. I've worked as an ER scribe for 2.5 years and lead scribe for 1.5 out of 2.5 years.

Thank you @gyngyn

Will i need to mention the charges during any part of the application cycle (interviews, secondaries, post acceptance)? What if it turns into a conviction at anytime during the cycle as well?

"If you are convicted of, plead guilty, or no contest to a felony or misdemeanor crime after you submit your AMCAS application and prior to your medical school matriculation, you must inform the admissions office of each medical school to which you have applied. This communication to each medical school must be in writing, and occur within 10 business days of the occurrence of the conviction."
