Hey everyone,

My school has students do one elective 3rd year where there is no shelf exam. I'm doing mine first (EM), but there's not much actual studying involved other than looking things up to try not to look like an idiot (which is hard-- I'm pretty sure a 3rd year thrown into a rotation where anything can happen will always look like an idiot).

Anyway, I have FM next and I know it's a hard shelf; is there anything I can be/should be studying now to make things a little easier for myself when I'm actually in the rotation? I want to do reasonably well on the shelf.

Thanks!

In general people on here recommend doing the relevant CF for each rotation as early as you can, in order to get a brief intro. I have yet to take the FM shelf, but I'm sure doing CF FM wouldn't be a waste of time

Honestly if I had a do over I'd have scheduled FM after IM because the shelf was basically medicine with a bit of OB GYN and Peds thrown in. It was a ****show.

Oops, just saw this.

That's why I'm so worried. Because I have FM before IM, and Peds and Ob/Gyn in the spring. I got stuck with pretty much the exact opposite schedule as what I would have wanted.

Case Files FM, and UWorld IM, Peds, and Ob GYN questions?

I only did Case Files and some UWorld. I didn't do well but I passed.

I read step up to step 2 (I figured fm was basically all of step 2), case files and did all 2000 practice questions from bratton's. It was my first rotation. My prep plus seeing a ton of patients got me a perfect score.
