hey all,

I've got lots of time this upcoming winter break at home. I thought it'd be wise to use the time to read up on hospital/health policy and medically related issues in order to prepare for my interview. Any recommendations?

Understanding Health Policy by Bodenheimer is pretty good

I second that... great book.

thanks..i'll be sure to look at that 🙂

Not a health policy book, but a great medical anthro book that reads like a novel:

The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down
by Anne Fadiman

How much are we expected to know about health care policies? I mean I have a general understanding and some opinions, but I haven't read a book on it. [Rant] How am I suppose to answer how to fix health care during my interview when no one has fixed it yet [/Rant] I am applying to be a physician. I will have to understand the system and work with it, but I doubt that I will be in a position to make changes to it. Furthermore, once I am a physician I will able to better see what changes would be good.
