Hey all,

I FINALLY got an acceptance to a school, and I’m pumped to get started next Fall. I know conventional SDN wisdom is to chill the hell out before school starts, but frankly, I’m feeling pretty unprepared. I haven’t taken any coursework since I took the MCAT in Summer of 2016, I’ve never taken A&P, and I’m realizing that courses like gen bio/chem were 5 years ago... I am confident in my ability to learn material and study well, but I don’t want to be too far behind the curve. Thoughts?

First off, congratulations!

I agree, relaxing before medical school is a must; however, I would also recommend establishing a good schedule for when in school so you maximize on your studies. Additionally, check out TeachMeAnatomy (website) to familiarize yourself with general anatomy - some of my non-traditional classmates tell me that when studying for the anatomy portion of our systems exams they had no idea ____ was located in the abdomen or the difference between ____ and ____.

even that far back i'd just chill. unless your school has a pre-medschool bootcamp just relax. get ready to study again

Relax, no need to pre-study. Enjoy your free time before medical school starts, you will do plenty of studying next fall.

There is a reason the mantra is to chill the hell out. Pre-studying is 100% useless. The things that will help will be to start developing habits like working out every day, eating healthy, having a structure you live by on a daily basis. That sort of thing. Actually looking at material doesn't help.
