hi everybody,
iam a second year psych resident with strong interest in pain management ,hoping to get in pain fellowship,
1.what elective i should opt for in third year to be able to compete for pain?
2.does anyone know if they have heard or seen any psych resident going for pain fellowship?
3.any psyc friendly pain fellowship out there?

any input would be helpful in this regard,

Now when a turf war has already started in differnt specilities to get their share of pain pie we should be prepared for it.

thanks

I know for sure that the Harvard pain fellowship has had psychiatrists in the past. In terms of electives, I've heard that logging time with procedures is important since the fellowship is very procedure heavy, so maybe look for something where you can show off your cutting and suturing skills.

does anyone have any more info on this topic? what is the difference between a anaesthesiologist pain specialist versus a psychiatrist who is one? How is the pay, scope, etc?

EDIT:
there is some info in this post: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=262132

but it does not answer all my ?s
