Hi everyone,
The coming fall is going to be my second year at UC Davis. I had taken General Chemistry, and calculus my first year. I am thinking about starting to prepare for General Chemistry, reading comprehension and Quantitative resonning sections of the test. What is the best way for me to go at this point. Any book recommendations? Thank you 🙂

you should definetly get the Destroyer! you can order it at orgoman.com. it's great for all the sciences, since the questions are generally more difficult than on the DAT. if you are able to answer the questions in the destroyer, you will be fine on the DAT. the new updated version just came out so make sure you get that ASAP. it's a really great way to prepare you for the test! if you have any other questions, i would be happy to answer as best as i can. 😉

But it seem to me that one of my friends told me that the destroyer should be the last thing to do before the test? correct me if I am wrong, I often am. Thank you.

you should get the kaplan blue book - its a good starting point. however, it doesnt have enough biology...so for bio you should use a textbook by campbell, i heard it's really good and easy to understand. for pat, you could use crack that pat, it gives you alot of practice. the destroyer should be the last thing you do because that totally prepares you for the DAT. it questions you on all the possible things that could be on the actual DAT - so if you feel comfortable with the level of questions in the destroyer, you will be fine on the DAT.

Campbells should be used as a reference if you don't understand a topic in your review book. Reading it cover to cover would be overkill, IMO. Check out Cliffs AP Bio, Kaplan Blue Book for basics, and Achiever and Topscore for practice. Destroyer to cement your understanding. Good luck

Hello fellow Aggie! Seems like there are a lot of us right here.

I would suggest doing the following, but I am assuming that you have time to study 6-8 hour a day.

-Begin with Kaplan Blue Book @ www.amazon.com, read it thouroughly and take notes as you go along. This would probably take around 3 weeks.

-Start doing problems from DAT Destroyer, which can be purchased from www.orgoman.com. Its essentially a book of problems, but I have heard that the problems are well thought out and the solutions are quite helpful. This would probably take another 2 to 3 weeks.

-At this point, I would suggest doing Crack the PAT to get suffiencient practice for PAT. The software can be purchased at www.crackdat.com. The time it takes for this will depend on the version you get.

-Now would be a good time to do Topscore. It contains 3 full length mock DAT. The software can be purchased at www.scholarware.com. Take the practice full length seriously. This can be done in 1 week or so.

-Now you can move onto DAT Achiever. Like Topscore, it also contains 3 full length mock tests, but it is much more difficult. The software can be purchased at www.3tquest.com. This will probably take another week or so.

Lastly, it would be a good time to review all the questions you got wrong during those practice tests. Focus on what you are weak at and try to supplement with other sources such as your own textbooks, or Schaum's if you want to.(www.amazon.com)

Hope it helps. To tell the truth the thing that I mentioned above would probably be my schedule if I were to take the DAT again.
