Hello everyone. I am new to this site. I have recently decided to that I want to be a DO. I have been out of school for 3 years now and I feel a little bit out of the loop. I am studying to retake my MCAT (I took it six years ago when I was an undergrad). I was wondering if anyone had any advice for me on what else I should be doing in the meantime to prepare for the application process. Thanks in advance to anyone who replies.

Hi Dawn, Welcome to SDN:

Two things I would work on:
1) Clinical experience or volunteering, unless you are already in the healthcare field.

2) Prep for the MCAT. That will be the big deciding factor. Since you have been away from classes for a while, I would strongly suggest either Kaplan or Princeton Review. I think review courses are especially beneficial for those of us who have been out of school for more than 1-year.

Good luck.
