Hey all...so I have already emailed and called the school (waiting for a response) but I thought maybe someone might also know on here and calm my nerves...so somehow in my pouring over every schools list of prerequisites I missed that Florida State requires 4 hours of biochem. I only have 3 🙁 Has anyone else had only 3 hours but got the ok to apply? I will be SO UPSET if FL is out of the running for this year because of 1 credit... 🙁

No idea about FL--I'm glad you're checking with them directly--but TN was fine with 3 once they saw the syllabus for the course I took.

I hope so...I sent them the course description so fingers crossed. :xf: Thanks for your input!

Call Lynnette Chaparro and talk with her! 😉

I emailed already, and as long as your biochem course is an upper level from an accredited university, you should be fine! 🙂 i had the same problem and was stressing out too!

I'm glad that your 3 hour credits will work for the pre-req! It seems like they are pretty flexible on credits, like I took Business Calc(because I was a Finance major in undergrad) and was bummed I'd have to pay $500 to take Calculus again and Lynette said I was crazy.

Buuuuuut I wouldn't go around referring to UFCVM as "Florida State"....😛 Go Gators!!

Be careful, the vet school is at the University of Florida. You will be tarred and feathered for confusing them

Man I wish the Vet School was at FSU. My life would have been made much easier!

However, UF's biochem requirement is flexible. Students at UF take a 4hr class by default, whilst other areas (FSU for example) offer gen biochem 1 and 2 (both 3 hrs) and human biochem (4 hrs). I took gen 1 before I knew about their req, and they were perfectly fine with that when I told them.

On another note, they require a few courses that most other schools do not (i.e. nutrition, animal science). Make sure you have them or the equivalent!

You can take both of these classes at UF the summer before matriculation with no penalty. However, you can also take them online from certain schools. Lynnette knows which ones are accepted and which aren't
