Hi All,

I was just wondering what are exactly the prereqs in addition to your gen chem, gen bio, physics 1 & 2, orgo 1 & 2, and calc...

thanks in advance

btw, i know each school has minor details in terms of humanities, but i'm just looking for the big picture

Calc isn't a pre req at very many med schools. Most MD schools will accept Stats in its place, and I don't know of any DO schools off the top of my head that require Calc. Check the CIB (in my signature) for more details, but your list pretty much has it covered, except that many schools also want a semester of social/behavioral science, which is usually required for most degrees anyway.

Other than that, you'll find it helpful to take Biochem and/or Genetics, both in terms of making your first year a bit easier and showing the adcoms that you can handle some upper level courses. Many pre meds will also take Anatomy and Physiology and Microbiology for the same purpose, as well as just because they're interested in the subject matter. However, I don't know if any of these are ever "required" by any DO schools. Check the CIB for each school's details.

There might be a spreadsheet around here of all the pre reqs for each school from last year...
