I want to apply to a dpt program (well a few of them) around august. I know the colleges I've looked at say that you can still be missing a couple prereqs as long as you take them before the program starts. I was wondering if any one has had any experience with this? Will they look down on me needing to take a couple courses still? Is it normal for people to still need to take prereqs or are most students applying to dpt programs done with their preqs at the time of application? After this summer, I will be needing three prereqs. I am going to take two or three prereqs in the fall and then if I only take two prereqs I would take the other in the spring. (still need to take my second semester of A and P, human physiology, and abnormal psych)

I imagine it would only affect your admission if your grades were borderline. I still had several classes to complete when I applied, and was taking the last of them when I was accepted. (Quite a few years ago, but still works the same to the best of my knowledge.)

Of course, the school reserves the right to rescind the acceptance if you fail or do not complete the pending credits... But outstanding prereqs do not count against you if you can reasonably finish them prior to starting the program.

You'll be submitting an academic update in Dec via PTCAS to show grades for this summer and fall 2012 classes. At that time you will also note what prereqs are left for spring / summer. They will not look down on you........my experience is one to three outstanding was acceptable dependent on the school. Make sure the AP is completed...those are the essential indicators for the program. Also be aware some schools are adding exercise physio to the prereqs, dropping gen psych and including devel and abnormal psych. Check with your schools of interest regarding changes for 2013-14 entry.
I had 4 prereqs in Aug when I applied.(bios and psychs) One school put my app on hold untill Acad UPdate w/ stipulations stating the needed classes and the BA/BS degree. The majority of us don't have the degree at the time of application. Many had to take the prereqs as extras outside of their majors
You look fine! Keep the grades up.
