First off...great site. I've been browsing through all the old threads and stumbled on something that whacked me on the head.

Is is true that all schools (or most I guess) require atleast a C in a prereq (due to some circumstances I had to settle with a pretty low grade in a general chem class). A lot of people have posted that the school specifies this on their site but from the brief skimming I've done I haven't found a school designate a minimum grade for preqreqs (a lot of them mention minimum gpa or recommended gpas but not grades in a preqreq).

it definitely says on most schools websites if they have a grade minimum. they'll either say:

1. "though we don't have a minimum grade requirement, please note that admissions are very competitive...."
2. "no grade lower than C will be accepted for pre-requisite courses"

for the second thing, some schools say no grade lower than C-. some schools say its suggested to get C or better, not required. again, do the search on the school's admissions pages, looking specifically for required courses. it should mention it there, either below the list, small/bold print around it, etc.

It is to your best interest to do well in the prereqs since the DAT will be based on the material covered by the prereqs.

Long story short...I had severe cramps during finals for that particular class and the final ended up dropping my grade by a whole grade point (I ended up getting a 1.6 in that class...my school doesnt give out grade letters). I ahve already taken the DAT and did pretty good (I got a 21 in GC). I do feel like I've learned the stuff but I was just afraid that they would not look at my file because of that one grade. I went through most of the schools I plan on applying and didn't see a "no grade lower than C will be accepted for pre-requisite courses"...do you guys still suggest I should retake the class?...I'm sure I'd have no problem getting a 3.5+ in it.

I would check directly with the schools you plan on applying to. See if you can talk to someone in admissions and get their advice. If you have the opportunity it might not hurt to take it over tho. It will def. make you more competitive and it won't limit your school choices. As mentioned above, most schools do require a C or higher for prereqs. Good luck!!
