Anyone try this combo out? The reason is, although there is all this hype about how mechanisitic q's are etc on step 1, i've found the 150 released q's to be somewhat similar to the Clinical Diagnosis Shelf exam. IN fact, of the q's was the exact same thing! IN addition, it seems that since most of the q's written in teh pretest book are clinical vignettes. Has anyone used that book for STep 1? The other great thing is that the explanations in there are amazing!!! 👍

The PDx shelf exam was basically the pathology, microbio, and behavioral science shelf exams all rolled into one. I used the PreTest PDx book only for my PDx shelf exam, which turned out in fact to be helpful for the shelf, but I don't think it really helped me out on the boards or anything.

I used it a little bit. Specifically, I wasn't getting a good feel about the vascular diseases from BRS Path and FA. So, I opened up PD pretest and used to index to do any reading about the conditions I was working on. I liked the pneumonics provided (and not just in the appendix at the back). I can point to a specific instance in which it directly paid off. I was able to grasp TTP from the FAT RN pneumonic. I had a question on the shelf yesterday that had all 5 symptoms. It certainly can't hurt if you have the time.
