I'm looking for general info on Preventive Med residency:

Is prelim IM required?

Will medicare/insurance reimburse a PM doc for primary care treatment?

Can PM docs do primary care?

If you already have an MPH, does it change the situation?

Any other general info or referral greatly appreciated.

Does it look REALLY bad if you fail Step2 when applying for PMR? I have a friend (yes, it's really not me!) who failed and is pretty depressed right now. Can I tell him he's OK? He got an MPH at Johns Hopkins and then worked at CDC for a couple of years after that before starting school. He's got OK grades and barely passed Step1, but again, failed Step2. Luckily he got some interview invites before the results.
