Hi, I applied to medical school last year. Would this be a good response to the question on AADSAS?
Thanks

Have you previously, or are you currently applying to a health profession school other than dental school?
Yes
If yes, indicate school(s), type of program, year applied, and also indicate if you were accepted and/or enrolled.

I applied to medical schools during the summer of 2009 in order to matriculate in the fall. Upon the realization that becoming a physician was not the right choice for me, I withdrew my application from the medical schools. I was therefore not accepted to medical school for fall 2010. Upon profound consideration and personal reflection following my shadowing experiences, I found that my true passion lies in dentistry. I will be applying strictly to dental school this year in hopes of matriculating in the fall.

Your old posts stated that you were rejected by some, THEN withdrew from others. So, yea, what you have written sounds fine, but as discussed in your old posts, don't deviate from the truth. To paraphrase Solstice, it's never good start your career off dishonestly.

Oh MD applicants..

I think once you apply, you have that stain on you forever.
It doesn't matter if you withdrew your applications: all that tells them is that you weren't hearing back from the med schools, and thus withdrew your application.

But if you applied and then immediately withdrew your applications, that's a different story and should be included.

Posted this in your other thread, but feel that it should be posted again

"You were rejected by some and withdrew from others. The real question is, if you were accepted by one, would you have attended? Will you be able to answer this honestly in an interview?? Don't be surprised if you get asked this somewhere along the road.
Applying to medical school is a long tough process. To be a competitive applicant requires lots of studying, preparation, hospital experience, and volunteer work. What was it that deterred you from medicine in the middle of the application cycle, after all your preparation? Don't answer to me by any means, these are just questions that you need to be prepared to answer."

I know i'm questioning your integrity, but why would someone put all the time and effort into applying to medical school, and then immediately withdraw all their applications. Wouldn't you have discovered medical school wasn't for you during all the preparation; shadowing, working, studying, and other experiences? Or does the revelation hit you when you are just waiting for the schools' decision?

Marymatthew's inconsistency in posts makes me a little uneasy. It leads me to believe that the individual should really concentrate on first exploring careers rather than the current approach of applying to multiple disciplines without investigating them thoroughly.

In response to the original question, you should be completely honest about your explanations. The original statement that you wrote was appropriate, but seems disingenuous and not continuous with your previous postings. Be careful!

Honesty is the best policy, and if you start your career based on lies and deceit you are setting yourself up for a very hard time.

Completely off topic, but I'm wondering why marymatthews name is in red? I think you can change the text below a person's name, but is he is really on probationary status? Just curious as I know you can get banned from the forum, but I've never seen anyone on probation.
