I'm currently a junior, and intend to apply for the June 2016 cycle. I'm currently debating on studying abroad towards the end of July to the beginning of September, after I have submitted all of my primary application materials once it opens up in June. However, I don't want to be stressed out about filling out secondary applications while I'm abroad, wondering if I'll have stable wifi to send them in, or just worrying about the entire application process in general.

If anyone can give me a general timeline of when secondary applications/interview invites/interview dates come in for the following schools (suppose I have EVERYTHING submitted by the last week of June -- very ideal situation, I know) I would really appreciate it! Hopefully I get invited to write secondary applications in the first place...

UCSF
UW
UCLA
Univ. of Pittsburgh
Univ. of Michigan
NYU
Tufts
UConn
Univ. of Detroit Mercy
Univ. of Minnesota
UNC
UPenn

I think the timeframe might be a struggle. UCSF has a strict 2-week deadline to submit the secondary, and while UCLA doesn't send out invites until late September/early October, they issue out secondary applications earlier than that. Penn's secondary is pretty long. NYU doesn't have one. Minnesota's is super long, but they don't have a strict deadline, just a recommended date.

If you submit your application in June, you can hear back as early as late July or early August from some schools. My secondaries piled up around September, and it definitely got a little stressful.

Schools started sending out invites for interviews in July, being gone July-Sept just isn't a good idea. Go abroad after you graduate. Now, for your list, if you are not a NC or WA resident, don't bother applying to either school, they just don't take many out of state candidates. Unless your stats are in the top 1%, 3.8 GPA and a 26+ DAT, you aren't getting into the CA schools from out of state either. You might want to reevaluate your list.

Secondaries aren't that stressful usually if you do them as they come, but often times you will either need to mail things to the school or at least have good enough internet.

Like the others said, some schools interview as early as August (a small few in July), meaning being gone for the all of August and part of September is cutting it close and I would not do it.

The application cycle game is fairly unpredictable.
