Hi. I was wondering what you guys thought was the best representative of the current Mcat CARS section:

1. Princeton review hyperlearning verbal 2011
2. Examcrackers 101 passages in verbal reasoning 2008

Which would you say is better representative of the actual Mcat? I seem to be getting basically all the Princeton questions correct, but average 70% on the examcrackers.
Thank you for your help!

The most representative would be some type of text from the last 5 years... when it comes to CARS its really hit and miss though

They are about equal in my opinion. EK may have a little bit of an edge. AAMC q banks are better practice for CARS.

That's so confusing though. Because I'm scoring 95% in Princeton, but only 70% in examcrackers.... so what's my actual score??

And I don't want to use the "real" (aamc) stuff yet, I wanna save them. So that's why I'm using this first.

I just feel like the two exams are totally different, and I'm curious as to which one is more similar to the exam.

CARS is essentially nearly identical to old verbal as far as passages and questions are concerned. TPR has difficult passages with straightforward questions while EK has usually easy passages with weird/picky questions. So TPR is better for verbal prep.

But the best bet for CARS/verbal is AAMC question packs and practice test because it's critical to learn what the test writers' thought processes are in analyzing passages and answering questions.

I would not rely on any third party materials/questions as a prediction of your score. The only one I would trust would be AAMC.

That being said, while I have never used the EK book you mentioned, I used their other books and typically found their scores deflated.

Third party material is generally fine for everything but CARS. Try to find old MCAT exams and run through the verbal sections.

i like everything about EK except for CARS. I would avoid using EK CARS 101
