An NP I collaborate with asked me today about a patient of hers taking pristiq. This patient reports pristiq capsules with medication/powder still in it in her stool.
NOT just "ghost capsules"
any one have any experience with this

Wtf, never heard of this but will definitely keep in mind. Has anyone encountered this with any other psych meds? Would like to know since I see a fair number of people with h/o bariatric surgeries and GI issues.

Yep. I've my small sample size maybe 5-20%? But it really is hit or miss. One med for one person goes just fine, but not another. It truly is just trouble shooting, trial and error. If starting fresh I try to pick meds I know that also have liquid formulations so we don't have to lose time in a bigger med change up.

IIRC, it's unpredictable and for the first year may keep changing but absorption will usually be consistent past then. The major exception is Lithium, which will be variable well beyond that (permanently?)
