For all of you PP guys or soon to be, how many weeks vacation are most partners taking on average. Does 5 weeks seem like a reasonable amount? I know when one gains partnership in most practices you can take as much or little as desired within reason (no work no pay) but there are definately cultures set witnin groups as to their priority towards time off. A group that takes less vacation time has different expectations of their partners than say a group that tends to take much more.

Our group gives/requires 8 weeks.

6 weeks first year, At least 8wks after. Some partners take more but still do their share of call up to 12 weeks.

With 10-12 weeks of vacation are you taking a hit to salaries? Are there people in the group who takes lees and makes more??

Most definately, we get paid basically by numbers of days worked and number of calls taken. More vacation, less money, don't take call, less money. It's all about balance. Some partners don't take call and take alot of vacation. I take call and take about 8 weeks and sometimes less because I want to get out of debt.

4 weeks, plus conference week

More vacation and no call. Hmm...how much does that put in your pocket by the end of the year on average? 150K?

Nine weeks at current gig.

Everyone takes the same amount.

Five weeks is about half of what any of my buddies in anesthesia groups across the nation take.

Your comment about once-reaching-partner-you-can-take-as-much-or-as-little (no work no pay) generally isnt accurate for most partnerships. Its more accurate for 10-99 locum tenens dudes.

Most partners in groups have formed a corporation that they "work" for, and hence are employees of their own corporation.

They receive a W-2, not a 10-99.

And in this scenerio everyone usually distributes the work load evenly, and gets the same amount of time off.

So, really, you are making money whether you are at work, or on vacation in Destin Florida, since your "salary" is not being penalized by you not being at work.

I'm going to Houston in May. I'm going to Vegas in June to play in a WSOP event.

My paychecks won't reflect those absences.

Wifey just went to Destin, Jet. Nice time of the year. Now she is at Festival International and going to Jazz fest to hang out with "Robert Plant". No ****😱 He plays and records with some buddies of ours and they are putting on a crawfish boil for him and some other VIP's. Backstage passes for her and all. That is if she still has the energy. I'll bet she backs out. She doesn't get all star struck like most people. But Robert Plant come on. She's become more like you described yourself, Jet. That Jazz fest crowd just ain't her bag any longer. I guess I should be flattered, she would rather hang out with me than ROBERT PLANT. I told her, don't expect the same from me. She said, its not like he's Brad Pitt or anything.

By the way, 12 weeks vacation. Any more, and they will have to pay me more. Vacation is expensive.

Thats pretty cool, Noy!! I'd love to go to a protected gig like that....by protected I mean shade, the ability to go to the bathroom within five minutes of desire, food and drink provided, etc. Your wifey should go!

Yeah, you nailed me on the crowd thing.

I like small areas....like the HOB foundation room....for seeing live music.

Tell your wifey one of my partners (female) ran into Brad and Ms. Jolie at a kids clothing store in the quarter a cuppla months ago. Described both of them as very nice.

I'll keep this to myself. She may not come back if she knew this.😉
