Hi,

Anyone know how easy it is to switch from private practice to adademics? If you went private practice after residency for a few years would it be harder to get a faculty position in radonc? Would you be taken as an associate prof or would you have to start at the bottom of the rung?

Thx for the input.

its not easy. There are rare exceptions and there are places that are so-called "semi private" but these are exceptions to the rule.

are there many established private radonc clinics? i'd imagine the operating cost of a private clinic would run in the millions, not to mention the tens of millions required to buy equipment and build shielding and such!
