this site has clearly been usuful (or at very least a common ground for commiseration) among those looking to enter the training field. I'd like it to remain useful for folks at the end of residency and thereafter. Therefore if anyone here would like to chime in about their experiences- not their speculation and theories -about what private and academic practice is in rad onc, please contribute here.

If you have colleagues who might be interested, encourage them to partake. Let us know what you like and don't like about private practice and academic radonc. this isn't a "which team are you on boy" sort of thing; its something to help others make a decision as to what might be right for them, and what they may not have thought to think of.
ok, GO!

😀 Aww, but speculation and theories are the best part of this board! I wanna hear about the job in rural Idaho paying 800K to start!

Seriously though, it would be nice to get some input from seniors who are graduating soon or young faculty. Though admittedly asking for experience in this matter probably eliminates 99% of active posters.

Steph, why don't you go ahead and get the ball rolling on this, since you're probably the only one here who can comment on post-residency experience.

How is the academic world treating you? Do you wish you had gone private? Are you thinking about making the switch?
