I am a pharmacy student in the state of California. My situation is that I was arrested with a small amount of marijuana in another state. The California Board of Pharmacy has denied my application for an Intern Pharmacist and has offered me a Probationary License. It's really unfortunate because if the event occurred in California it would have only been an infraction that I wouldn't even have to disclose.
My application for an Intern Pharmacist has been pending for the last year and was recently denied. I could go to hearing and probably get a license without probation, but it requires more money and time, which I am not willing to forfeit anymore. At this point, I know rotations sites will be limited due to having a restricted license. I have connections in the field, so I know a few sites that will take me.
I wanted to inquire if anyone else has gone through a similar situation, with a probationary license, and could give me some insight? When I apply for a RPh license, my Intern License will still be on probationary status, so I know they will still consider the incident, but will I still be on probation as a pharmacist? This whole ordeal has been a huge mess, but also an important learning experience. I know marijuana will be legal in California by the time I graduate, so do not know how this will affect me.
I have connections to Oxford and will get my MBA after the PharmD. I will start an International Pharmaceutical company, but I know I will need to get hired at some point prior. I do not use marijuana anymore, but I'd really appreciate any advice to aide my situation.
Thanks!
