I have recently been accepted to my first choice school and am very excited. However, I have had some trouble with the main admissions representative. I won't name the school because I don't want to bash anyone, but basically this representative has been very rude to me on several occasions on the phone, not returned my calls or emails, and is extremely unhelpful and negative. FYI, these calls I've made to the school are NOT in regards to my admission status so don't think I'm one of those annoying applicants. Basically they can't seem to read my transcript and keep telling me I'm missing classes I've already taken. I try to explain this (extremely nicely) but she can't seem to resolve the problem (or be nice!) I don't know if I should let the admissions rep. affect my decision about where to attend. I know I won't have to deal with her once I'm a student, but I kinda feel like she's a reflection of the school. What does everyone else think? Oh, by the way, every other admissions rep from other schools have been great. 😡

wow tough call. while i totally think you need to do what YOU want, and not let others influence you, it does seem like maybe its a reflection of the school, and their ability to help you.

but if you don't need to deal with this particular lady again, i would let it go. don't let others get you down!

I'd talk to students who already attend the school and see if that attitude is pervasive amongst the staff at the school. If so, it might be such a huge headache to attend the school, that you might be happier elsewhere. You might just have one bad apple, though.

you've been accepted already so I would just step away from the whole situation for a month and then try again. Try for a fresh start.

Have you tried doing things through the mail such as resubmitting your transcripts and sending in excerpts of the college catalog to describe your courses?

Try one more time (extremely politely) and if you are still unhappy, find the supervisor/Dean of Students and contact them. Tell them you are an accepted student who is being treated disrepectfully by this individual and you are considering not matriculating due to this. I guarantee the situation will get resolved ASAP. No way is any school going to lose a student (and tuition) over a rude secretary. Besides, I would think the administration would want to know about this. I'm sure you're not the only one being treated like this.

If you are uncertain, go through with all your interviews. You can look at all the schools you applied to and then decide which school to attend.

I'd follow this advice. 😀

I'm going to venture a guess and say it WASN'T TUCOM-NV! 👍
