Procedures are definitely important! I'm looking to learn: culposcopy (standard with most programs), colonoscopy (NOT just flex sig... bc these are becoming less and less utilized in today's practices), EGD, skin excisions and biopsy, cryotherapy, and stress tests. I realize that most urban hospitals will not let you practice these things; however, I plan to work in a very rural Georgia town that already permits its fam docs do such things (esp. seeing as how there are no derms, ob's, etc in the area... and only a twice a week cardiologists and gastroenterologists... ). Besides procedures, I'm also only looking at programs with an electronic medical record (see the Future of Family Medicine report or the latest FP report for support of this notion).
