I emailed her a gazillion times, i went to her office three times to remind her, and she still hasn't written my letter (its been 2 months since i asked her) 😡 .. I am getting the feeling that maybe she doesn't like me? what if she writes something bad about me 😱
why did I ask her, because I had nobody else...I don't hang out a lot at professor's offices and now its coming back to bite me in the ass
My other LORs are in, do schools start reviewing files or wait until everything is complete? has anyone else experienced this crap from professors

yes, i know EXACTLY how you feel

At least she is honest about it and tells you that she hasnt written you one. One of my profs never wrote me one and told me that it was written AND sent to the schools.

Yes, the solution is to find a new prof who will write you an LOR pretty quickly. Or write your own LOR and find a prof/dentist who is too busy and will go ahead and sign it for you.

I'm in the same boat as you, I've given my general chem teacher like two months to write a letter for me and he still hasn't. He keeps telling me he's busy with classes but will do it soon. I don't know what do to, I've emailed him as well as gone by his office and well I don't want to piss him off cuz like you said he could end up writing something bad now. Don't know what to do.

That's the smart way to do it....or you can just wait and wait and wait some more........ 😴

I've been there... not fun.

Just look at it this way: what kind of LOR does a professor who thinks your a pain in the a$$ for wanting one write? .....not a good one 🙂

Thats what kept me from kicking down his door and jamming the keyboard in his face anway.

sounds convenient for me...but unfortunately, my gut feeling is no professor will do that

but a crappy letter is better than no letter 😳

"Here, meet my cousin Guido" followed by tart threats of bodily harm always worked for me in the past....If a professor is draggin his/her heels, then perhaps you should simply find another recommendor.

If your stats are at least in the top 10% of applicants, I'm pretty sure the LORs won't factor much into the decision. So, I would just ask the lazy professor to write a one liner such as "John Smith was an excellent student in my (subject) class." It's short, but it actually qualifies as one recommendation letter! Better to have the LOR requirement complete yet lacking rather than incomplete.

Your stats are pretty good . You may just need a generic LOR to complete your file so it can be reviewed sooner than later. ALso you may need to ask this Prof. "whats her problem?" Tell her you need it soon.

It's not as uncommon as you'd think. There was a thread on here a few months ago discussing writing your own LOR and what to put in it.

i was thinking about doing that, but I just received an email from my prof. that she sent my LOR today. Now unless it's similar situation to what comet208 described above, i'm set in the LOR department 😀

i had the same experience,
if you are using the pre-professional committee @ your school, tell the director to email/call for you. i thought that he really didn't like me either, and kept conviently going out of town right after i got the assurance it'd get done. eventually he did turn it in although i had secured another letter by that time. i'm a slacker too, so i'm guessing that if i were a prof i'd be pissing off students left and right...therefore i cut him some slack.

One of my professor was a bit late in writing my LOR as well. When he finally wrote it, he said to me - "Your reason behind wanting to become a dentist is a bit weak. You should instead come into the graduate school and do research!"

I'm like..

damn. I'm screwed.
