Hey guys,

I've taken the mcat a few (3) times already but haven't done as well as I intended, with the highest in the mid 20s. I think i need some professional med school advice as how to plan out whether i should apply or take another mcat. Would anyone know of any reputed/distinguished professionals who can offer me such advice? I'm willing to pay for it.

You can get plenty of good, free advice here on SDN!

For starters, go see your school's learning or education center for help with test taking strategies.

SDNer's seem to have a high opinion of ExamKrackers for MCAT prep.

What are your MCAT scores in order, cGPA, sGPA? What resources did you use for the MCAT and how long did you study for the exam?

As mentioned above, first see your schools advisors. The big initial question is going to be whether this is an extrinsic issue (you somehow aren't preparing adequately or effectively), or an intrinsic issue (your brain isn't wired up right, ie dyslexia, text anxiety disorders, ADD etc). There have been people who have overcome each kind of issue. But I caution you that the MCAT is but the first, and actually the easiest of the standardized tests you will hit on the road to becoming a physician. You'll have shelf exams, the three parts of the USMLE, inservice exams, and specialty boards down the road that may make the MCAT look like a walk in the park. Figure out how to navigate this hurdle before facing the next one, and you'll save yourself a lot of headaches down the road.
