So....our physio teacher, who is notoriously difficult, opened up renal physiology by saying these will be the hardest questions on boards.

He then went on to say how he will make extremely difficult questions, the class will be curved blah blah blah. Anyway, I was wondering if you guys/gals agree with this. I'm thinking about maybe hitting up some board review questions to get a head start on renal once I delve into it some. Is renal phys really the hardest part of the boards? (Step 1 that is)

I don't know about "hardest questions on the boards" as he doesn't know what questions you will get. I would say Renal Physiology is probably the hardest to understand in Physiology esp. when it's tested in an application format -- different segments of the nephron, different hormones, countercurrent multiplier, acid-base, Dannet-Yarrow diagrams, etc.

What's hardest on the boards is really different for every person. I personally enjoyed renal physiology and pathology a great deal and did not find it difficult at all.

In contrast, I found psych/behavioral science to be relatively challenging for me, and the fact that I never liked the subject at all no matter how hard I tried to make it interesting for myself did not help me out in any way!

This is a great point. Different people, different strengths, different interests.

Psych/Behavioral science were 2 of my best course performances so far in med school. I did well above average on the exams.

Cardio has been my worst. I am well below average in the course thus far.
