I love two programs: Utah and Wisconsin (Madison).

Can anyone help me weigh this one out? Much appreciated.

Since I've never been to Wisconsin, I say go to Utah.

In fact, you could probably just superimpose Wisconsin on Michigan for the Utah vs. Michigan thread.

If you want to settle down in Michigan permanently, UM would be the wiser choice.

Minus Big Ten Burrito. Since the Lansing location didn't make it, I think they have shelved their aspirations to expand to the entire conference, including Maidson. And the Big Ten threatening to sue them forcing them to retract the name to BTB was about as lame as their attempts at division realignment this year.

Maybe they could change it to "Leaders & Legends Burrito"...🙄

so my spouse says she would be happy at either place...but she loves to ski and has been to Utah (to ski of course) but not to Madison...how much should that weigh in??? She wants me to choose the best program but I want her to be happy also...and I think Madison is a great town, just not for skiing.

Here is where you need to seriously consider politics and religion. A LOT of people from my medical school do residency in Utah and vice-versa, and I've been to SLC, so I feel I can comment on this: although the intellectual/medicine community of SLC is moderate and leaning towards liberal, the city as a whole is quite conservative and religious, which will affect you either positively or negatively depending on your own views. For my husband and I, both from non-religious families, it was a very easy choice to not apply to Utah and we seriously considered the more liberal UW-Madison. So, take into consideration not just skiing, but who the people will be who you'll interact with outside of the medical community every day, and who will be the teachers at the schools your children go to and who will be the leaders of the non-medicine communities you join.

I've yet to have an experience at BTB that didn't involve an uncomfortable couple hours in the bathroom a few hours later.

If you want to protest in support of unions... go to Madison

If you want to be in a union (active house staff association)... go to Ann Arbor.
