Program Coordinator at St Barnabas in NJ

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
You're in Jersey, kid....everyone's got attitude.

What gave you THAT impression? Thoughts about my OP?
It is the time of the year where posts disparaging programs begin to appear. It is usually difficult to determine the validity of the post.
-Is it someone who really has insight into the inadequacies of the program?
-Is it someone who is bitter about the way they were treated by the program?
-Is it someone who really loves the program, will rank it first, but doesn't feel certain that they are going to be ranked high enough to get a spot and wants to increase the chances that the program will fall that far down their rank list by dissuading others from ranking it highly?

For the record, I did not get the impression that you had a hidden agenda from your original post.

You are correct. I have no hidden agenda. I simply have an observation and want to see if anyone else had the same impression. Besides, I don't think anyone is going to rank a program based on the PC. Even if PC was important, I don't know how many people go on this website and if any negative posts would really influence rankings. I only discovered it existed in October and I've been in medicine for a while.

Is it me or is she inept and have a LOT of attitude?

I was a rotating student there a little while ago. Yes she does in fact have an attitude but its usually when she doesn't know you well enough. On another note, the PD and Chair are extremely nice guys so don't let her sway you away from the program. Also, once you're actually an anesthesiologist, you are going to be getting a lot more attitude from different people so start learning how to deal with it to the point that you could care less. Its part of what we signed up for..

So, do they rank candidates that didnt do a second look or as they called it a 'second interview'. They seem to really emphasize the second look

did they tell certain people to do a 2nd look? i attended their interview and do not remember this at all...

I believe theyre the program that actually used to require second looks. From what a resident told us, they seem to only rank people that really make it obvious that they want to go there. If you really wanted barnabas, I'd go for a second look. But im ranking them almost last on my list, so Im not going to bother.
