My daughter was accepted to Wayne State and is wait listed at two other in-state schools. Looking at the Wayne State site, it's a 4 year program! I thought DPT was 3 years, was I wrong? Is 4 years typical?

The program at wayne is 3.5 years. You're right, it is typically 3 years. However, the last half a year the students are just doing clinicals so they have more hands on experience. Also, just curious when did your daughter get her acceptance? I'm asking because I am waiting to hear back from them!!!! Did she get early acceptance?

Also, keep in mind that Wayne State might spread out their classes more to ease the load. I know at UM-Flint the first 2 years average around 16 credits a semester of mostly classroom. The final year consists of one semester of classes and 2 semesters of clinicals.
She was brought in for an early interview the first week of January and was notified in mid February. She's waitlisted at GVSU, so if she gets in she'll probably go there - it's local for us.
Yes it is a bit confusing, but I've been to a few informational meetings and they have said it was 3.5. Good luck to your daughter, I hope she gets in to her first choice school!!!
Thanks PThopeful! She actually loved the program at Wayne State and is excited to be in! A local school would just be better financially. We'll see! We've been watching for housing over in Detroit - lots to figure out!
