Hi,

Anyone know how the IM programs are at UIowa and at Medical College of Wisconsin? Heard quite a lot about them. MCW also has a research track apparently. But the locations are of course, not big cities.

Comments on clinical exposure, research, lifestyle in general, fellowship opportunities etc will be helpful.

Thanks.

The Iowa program also has a research track - Iowa has strong basic science, bench-top opportunities if that is what you are interested in.

Iowa is arguably in the bottom of the top tier of 25-30 programs. Tertiary referral center + VA, so lots of solid clinical exposure, plenty of research chances - the chair is primarily a science guy - lifestyle is par for the course at a big academic IM program. You will work and work hard, this is residency not a social event. Fellowship placement is excellent regionally (remember WashU and Mayo are in the area), and solid nationally.

Iowa City is a college town. So it's not a huge city, but it's trendy and hip. You won't be bored when you have time off.

Really a reply I was looking for. Gave me a pretty clear picture. Thanks.
