I just registered for the MATCH (2 days before the ROL deadline). Does this mean that I was not ranked by any of my programs?

I ask this because I heard a rumor that programs cannot rank an applicant unless they are registered for the NRMP Match. So if an applicant registers late for the NRPM match, this means that they are not ranked anywhere. Is this true? If this is true, then I am totally screwed!

Thanks

While I'm not 100% sure, I believe you just have to be registered and verified by the rank order list deadline. I don't think your registration status affects a program's ability to rank you on their list--only whether or not you can participate in the match. And if I'm not mistaken, the NRMP charges you more if you register after a certain date.

That's not true. You have to be registered in order for the program to rank you.
One of my classmates was contacted by a program after he'd interviewed there (in December?), and was asked why they couldn't find him on their list. They wanted to rank him but weren't able to. He registered right away and checked back in with them to iron things out.

so... good luck with that, OP

I would highly recommend contacting programs where you interviewed. When they tried to rank you (either by importing a list from excel, ERAS, or manually) they would be unable to do so. Chances are they simply skipped over you (esp if they import the list). It's easy for them to fix, they can insert you into the list anywhere they would like.

Unfortunately I believe that is the case. The program will look for the applicant and they need to registered with the NRMP since the NRMP does the algorithm. Some programs do wait until the last minute to make their rank lists, but others don't. You also cannot do your own rank list unless registered. I would contact programs asap.

I find it strange that your school didn't notify you either. My school started notifying people specifically who hadn't registered yet a while ago. They also reminded other people last week who had not certified at least once. I assume they have been monitoring it this week as well.

The OP is applying for a 2nd residency (after completing a prior one) so no med school to help out at this point. But for US seniors this is usually the way schools do it.

Oh, I see. I had no idea, ignore my post then!

This was a great advice. I emailed the programs that I had interviewd at. Some of them responded by thanking me for letting them know. However, some did not respond to my e-mail. I do no know what will come out of this. Most likely I will not match. Anyways, I was not important enough to the programs for them to contact me and let me know that they could not rank me. So even if they were able to rank me I would have been way at the bottom of their ROL. Same outcome anyway, not matching on match day.

Good luck to all in the match.
