Prometric Cancellations

I was scheduled to take USMLE Step 1 tomorrow 1/26 in my hometown and this date was cancelled because of the storm. I rescheduled for the following day in Binghamton (Vestal) NY but I am really not sure how to know if they will be open. All of the surrounding test centers are marked closed mon or mon-tues on the Prometric site. When you go to register for a test, they show you every available time slot, even at the centers which are marked closed due to the storm. I am worried about driving 3 hrs just to find out that the center is closed on 1/27 for my test. Any help would be appreciated!

I did! But most are closed over the weekend and closed today so there is no one to field the calls. Hence, my hesitation to drive 3+ hours and get a hotel.

Prometric has a general number, maybe they can help you see if it's closed or not?

If it makes you feel better, if you do not show up for an exam, it will not count as an attempt or show up on your transcript. The only time it does is if you check in at the center and then leave. But if you do not show up at all, it does not.

NBME told me this themselves because I had a similar situation. They have this in place for emergencies like this. 🙂
