So I studied my ***** off for the DAT and ended up with OCHEM28, TS23, and AA22.

Now I know these are okay scores (my GPA isn't all that great though)... My question regards one of the questions in the Ochem section which didn't display properly. I mean it literally said "choose the reagents to make the following product" then (blank; nothing there) before listing options A-E. I randomly chose one of the answers, and reported the problem. So since I got such a high score in Ochem, I'm thinking I chose the right answer?

Anyways, I'm really worried that my scores will go down if the DAT committee reviews that question... and thus possibly lower my score by removing it from the exam. Does anyone know what possible outcome will come of this? Is it more likely they just shrugg it off? Will they just take that question off my exam literally making the Natural Sci section out of 99? Will they do nothing (I'd prefer that). Ah, I'm getting so worried. Please help!

I am pretty sure they would not change your scores one way or the other. Most likely what they would do is give you the option to retake before the normal 90 day period is up.

Those are not "OK" scores, those are amazing scores. I would not re-take the DAT if I were you.

I had a similar problem. One of the QR problems didn't have the correct answer as one of its answer choices. I did write to the ADA, but no response so far. 😛

Same! except for me it happened on a chem stoichiometry problem. I was sure of my answer, but all the answers were wrong (they just wanted the set up, not the exact answer). Answer E only had the numerator of the answer, but was missing the denominator. I was so confused so i marked it and picked a random answer. When I was done with the sciences I went back to it and the Answer E had the full answer now, and it was the correct answer. For some reason the denominator didnt show up at first. I was pissed! Thank god I went back and checked. How can their be errors like this on the biggest tests of our lives!

What is *****? I think it stands for troll.

i wouldnt worry about it. your score is pretty high and it would be a shame if they lowered your score after a review

Nah, I'm not trying to be a troll or anything. This is a valid concern. I mean, I recall reading somewhere that the scores are rounded up, so if they change my (I admit it's high but I was trying to be modest) score of 28 in ochem or took that question off the exam, then it'll affect my TS which will then in turn affect my AA which will then affect my admission since my GPA is below-average. Coming from CA and with dent admissions as tough as they are these days, I have every reason to trip over this :T

Good luck to everyone else though! I'll update this thread if anything unusual comes up or any changes to my scores occur.

this is hilarious. when my best friend was taking her DAT one of the prometric employees came in during the math section and, with a wet rag, started to wipe off her desk and her dry erase board because "there was black from the markers everywhere and I thought I would clean it up for you"

This was during the test....with time running out and the lady just walked out leaving everything wet and she couldn't use the dry erase boards b/c they were wet...she ended up ruining her shirt to *attempt* to dry them off.

Approx time given up by this: about a minute and a half or so....which we all know is VITAL during quantitative reasoning.

She complained because, yes, it may have affected her score (she ran out of time and guessed on a few last ones)

Prometric just told her she could retake the entire DAT within 30 days for free. She had a 22 AA, 21 TS, 21 PAT, 15 QR (up from her original 17 AA/17TS/ but down from her 16 QR)

Sometimes you just have to suck it up and deal with it. 28 OChem means one problem wrong. I think you should just let it go. Seriously. This IS ridiculous.

Lol, that same thing happened to me: the entire test, I had only used one marker (of the four that they gave me). Two minutes into QR, the marker went dead, so I tried the next marker-it was dead. The third and fourth? they were dead too. I raised my hand because I literally couldn't do the problems without a working marker and it took 1+ minute for a person to come to me (I had to get up and gesture with both of my arms like I was signaling for a helicopter from a crash site), then they went and grabbed the markers, which took another minute. By this time I was completely distracted with my surroundings (thank god it was the last section), and I couldn't get into the groove the entire test. I didn't get to like 5 questions, which showed in my score. I had a Bio 22, Org 23, Reading 23, Chem 18, PAT 21 and a QR of THIRTEEN. YES, 1 3 .
Luckily it didn't stop me from getting into DS, though, so I can laugh about it now.

I agree...let it go, get over it, move on, etc etc etc. You're looking like a bit of a jackass complaining over a 28. No offense....well maybe.

i had the same exact problem, with the exact same question in Nov 2009

I'm not complaining that I got a 28. I was freakin' hella happy when I saw my scores. Like the person said before though, if you miss one question your score will drop (probably by 2 points), and if my ochem drops then so does my TS and AA.

Besides, the original post is asking WHAT WILL HAPPEN NOW THAT I HAVE REPORTED THE PROBLEM. I was just worried that my score will be changed post-exam. No where in my post did I say "oh FML, I got a 28 in ochem instead of 30," which some of you seem to be implying. Jeez...
