If anyone is truely bored and feels they are a good critic of personal statements, would you like to proof mine?? My pre-health advisor says she will read it once and after that, it is up to me to make it pretty. Her initial proofing was fine with no changes but since then I have changed the last paragraph to include more recent experiences. I didn't realize that I have up to 4500 characters for the statement! That is a good 2 pages or so! Thanks guys 🙂

I think 4500 character is closer to one page, maybe a bit more. Did you include spaces?

I would help with your PS, but I don't I may not be the best critic. 😉

Are these offers of help just for the OP? I could use another opinion or two. 🙂

I don't mind helping you if you PM me your personal statement.

You might also check out the stickies in the pre-allo section, there is a list of people who are willing to proof read for you.

Do what I did, find some sap from the english department and corner them until they check it over. Candy also works I hear...wish I had tried that...

you may need to delete some things. i think you should try to focus on one main story from your experiences that is important (like in your last paragraph), and mention the rest briefly. you dont want to just list what you did because they already know that from your application. focus more on important things that are not on your application, which will be more interesting for them to read. dont freak out, the hardest part is thinking of something interesting about u to talk about, after that it should just come to you easily. let me know if u need more help. :luck:

anybody would like to read my PS and comment on it?

anyone else who would volunteer to read my PS and comment on it, i just want to hear multiple opinions.

I would be glad to help anyone. I have done many a PS for colleagues for medical school and residency. I also just won a national DO essay writing competition. I give fair but direct comments and suggestions. Just PM me and I usually get back to you within that day.
