Hello Everyone. I appreciate everyone's help, as the information in these forums has been priceless. Its great to see physicians and potential physician working together rather than competing. I am new to his forum and had a question.

What are the proper exams, in order, a graduate from a foreign medical must pass in order to obtain medical residency? Do they only need to take MCCEE? Or do they need to take the and the MCCQE Part 1 and 2? Or do they have to take all 3 exams?

Thanks again for all your help!!

Hello Mlw03! Thanks for the reply! I really appreciate your help. So if a foreign medical graduate wants to relocate to Alberta, all they need is their medical school degree? There isn't an exam they need to take to obtain residency?

Uh no.

They are required to be board certified in that specialty. What mlw03 meant was if you are American board certified, then you wont need to be retrained (reciprocal).

If you are not American board certified, you will have to write the exams, and go through residency.

Lol..didnt think it was THAT straight forward, but just wanted to make sure. Thanks guys!! Appreciate you both for the feedback. Can you tell me which specific exams are required to obtain residency? I'm confused as to how many exams are necessary to be eligible to obtain residency

I've been reading from a couple of older threads and was wondering, Is it really difficult to obtain residency in canada if I went to a medical school in the carribbean?
