A situation has come up in which I am in need of advice from someone who has gone through or knows someone who has gone through a similar situation, which I will briefly describe. After matching this year, I was involved in an incident in which I attempted to obtain Post-its from a locked cabinet in my department after normal business hours and it was caught on video. As a result, I was placed on departmental probation. Since that time, I have fulfilled all of the stipulations of my probation and will be placed back in good standing by the end of the week.

Unfortunately, as a result of being placed on probation, I was required to report this change of status to the internship site that I matched to. After a lengthy review process, my internship site has formally requested (to APPIC) to be released from our binding contract. APPIC is now investigating the matter, and I am currently awaiting a decision from them as to whether or not they will grant this release.

As you can imagine, I am devastated by this turn of events. I know that I only have a very slim chance of holding on to my internship placement. While I await APPIC's decision, I am trying to figure out what my options are. I would appreciate anybody's input regarding: 1) likelihood of matching at an APA-accredited site with this incident on my record; 2) likelihood that I could even find something in the clearinghouse this late in the game; 3) any information regarding similar situations that you are aware of through yourself or classmates. Basically I am in a difficult and, I assume, uncommon situation and I am looking for some direction or possibility of salvaging my career. If you would rather not respond publicly to this post, please email me at [email protected]. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

There seems to be more going on here than posted.

Unfortunately, I agree with JS in regard to slim/no spots available for CH.

As for not listing it....I believe there is a question on the form about matching and then withdrawing and/or not completing the year. Definitely consult with your DCT about the question (if you reapply).
