I have heard a rumor that carib students have to preform prostate exams on one another... T or F?? Is this true for SGU or Ross?

Don't worry, they make people like you use baby wipes before your exam.

At AUC they pay "sexologists" and fly them in for the occasion. I'm sure the other schools do the same.

and breast exams too.

just remember to wear clean underwear hahaha

Seriously, I heard that medical schools use standardized patients on which to pratice hese sorts of physical exams (i.e. chest, pelvic exams). I always wonder who these types of people are and how much they get paid to do this.

Not on each other probably, to exam the prostate, you pretty much have to reach in through the rectum and feel for it. I think you can safely say that you won't be doing this on your classmates, unless you went to some really shady caribbean medical school.

fine i'll play nice. At SGU at least you don't do any of those exams. you don't do breast, testicular, prostate, pelvic exams. you see a short video on how to do them and there's a plastic dumbie that they have you practice colposcopy on. but you don't do these exams on anyone not paid patients not fellow class mates. you can practice on your self or your boyfriend/girlfriend at your own leisure, but there's nothing that the school makes you do. So sorry bro, you're going have to wait till 3rd year to stick your finger in some dudes butt.

OMG! The truth is revealed!

Didn't everyone already know?? That is EXACTLY why we all went to the shady Carib school! So we can all fondle each other and get a MD while doing it!

Ohh and don't forget the elephant walk they make us before finishing basic sciences and leaving the island. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=elephant+walk+

For every 10 Carib med students that succeed and make their schools proud, there's 90 students that are too dumb to figure out that some rumors are just TOO stupid to believe. Now I see where the stigma is born.

Sort of like the Order of the Black Skull??

The standardized patients that most US schools use to let students practice the male and female GU exams on are generally paid a stipend. A lot of them are nurses or other health care workers. Some might have had a family member who had a gyn or GU type of cancer. Strange as it sounds, they don't really mind being poked and prodded, and really want to help students learn. I guess after you've had like 15 pelvic exams, who cares?
