Prosth, Implants and GP

Throughout my course in dental school, I've found a great liking toward prosthodontics. So, I started doing some research and visiting schools but have felt a bit discouraged toward specializing. Not all prosth programs teach implant placement. And, it is my understanding that implants are more or less the current and future of dentistry. Furthermore, as general dentists expand treatments they can perform, what will happen to the specialty of prosth?

I would love insight regarding dentist's, specialist's and even student's opinions on the future of the prosth specialty. Thanks!

GPs placing implants will affect pros about as much as GPs placing crowns and doing dentures.

periodontists claim they're the specialists of dental implants, as do the prosth
but when **** happens, they call OMFS.

Actually nowadays very few Prothos program includes implant. Know its quite discouraging implants though they are best options for patients and in pretty high demand. But not getting the reason behind it.😕

whats the point of doing 3yrs prostho and not placing implants. GPs are taking over everything ever GP practicing over 5yrs is either placing or thinking of placing and not referring anything out in this economy so if your not placing i wouldnt do it.
