protein synthesis/ dna replication

seems like these two processes are very meticulous, I was wondering if anyone who has taken the exam or anyone can suggest how in depth to know these??

has anyone seen very detailed questions about these processes??
ie. which direction each enzyme travels and during what part of the process.

I am sailing through all the other material and when it comes to these I start to sink..

thanks all

I didn't have any questions pertaining to dna/rna synthesis, but I wouldn't stress too much about it. If they are difficult topics for you try to familiarize yourself with the basic enzymes and invest that extra time on other sections of the test.

I agree. Know the enzymes for DNA replication (helicase, gyrase, DNA polymerase, etc.) and what each enzyme's job is. For protein synthesis just know the basics of transcription and translation. Most questions on the DAT do not go in to incredible detail. You will be very surprised at how straight forward most of the questions are.

Definatly know where processes occur, ie. cytosol, nucleus etc.

My test focused on genes and DNA but I wasn't particularly tested on the details. However, you should know the steps and understand why it occurs the way it does. Definitely know where the processes take place and the specific enzymes involved in DNA replication.
