Provider status

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
It’s already happened. Problem is, if it isn’t recognized by physicians and all the other allied health professions (not to mention the general public), which it isn’t and will never going to be, then it’s a meaningless designation.

It will never, ever happen. NP's and PA's long ago took that route, and it is too late for pharmacists. At this point, nobody is going to increase healthcare costs by giving pharmacists provider status. Schools have been pushing pharmaceutical care/medication therapy management/medical home/provider status/many other names since the 1970's. It will never happen.
