PS Conclusion

May seem like a weird question, but how important is the conclusion on a PS? I have just refined my PS and it is lacking a good conclusion to what I have said. So should I make sure I have a couple of sentances to elaborate on what I have said or do the adcoms know what I have said during my PS without the use of a conclusion?

I believe good writing should have a good conclusion, but what that is varies depending on what you're doing. I don't think you need a 7th grade style conclusion to a 5 paragraph essay, but you should have something that makes it feel complete/whole.

My PS sort of has a theme, so I round that out with mine and just sort of finish up by hammering home that I am going to be the most amazing veterinarian the world has ever had (well, not quite that extreme).

Part of the purpose of the PS is to demonstrate your communication skills, so I think you should make an effort to show that you can write competently, effectively, and perhaps a little eloquently.

Ok no offense but that made me laugh. I'd hope they know what they just read!

I really didn't have a conclusion to mine. In fact, mine ended more or less mid-thought, as I didn't have enough characters to finish out the rest of that. Luckily the sentence it ended on kinda sounded like a conclusion in its own way "....to make my own veterinary practice more complete."

Did most people have conclusions? I really don't know how most others did it. From the one's I've proofed so far I haven't really seen a whole lot of obvious conclusion paragraphs or anything.

From what I have gathered, it is a good idea to have some sort of ending. It's definitely a waste of time and space to sum up what you've already said. But, if you can introduce something slightly new but that still ties in strongly, then I think it will enhance the overall essay. You want to end strongly so that you leave a lasting impression. I've advised people to perhaps talk about their qualities and why they would make you a good vet. If you can then refer back to aspects of your essay in bringing up the qualities, even better!

my last paragraph basically talked about what qualities id bring as a vet and why id be a good member to the class. then i did more of a sentence conclusion at the end that summed it all up.

I guess since my PS was almost a story of my life (should be for everyone in a round about way) I basically ended with something tying back to the beginning and then saying what I planned on doing in the future

I ended my PS by expressing what fields of vet med I am interested in and that I was confident I would succeed in school and as a veterinarian.

I just ended mine like some of the other posters said. I tied in my beginning to the end, and wrote a couple of sentences about some of my goals and what I'd hope to do as a veterinarian.

I'm having a really hard time with this too! I have a whole paragraph dedicated to my interests/goals so I don't really know what to say after that :/
