I'm getting ready to reapply, and I've got a new personal statement ready to submit. In addition to using it for the primary I was thinking about sending this as sort of an update to the schools I was on the waitlist at. I've worked really hard on it and I though it may help my chances but the other part of me isn't sure if it would be worth it.

Anyone ever done anything like this?

I wouldn't. Just save it. Updates and a PS should be way different enough you can keep them separate.

Your PS should not have updates to the schools of which you are waitlisted. In fact, most schools say that sending anything after you are waitlisted is basically useless because you are ranked on a piece of paper and no further evaluation is going to be done. Therefore, i would make your personal statement as strong as possible without having to give an update to those schools. You may also want to check if applying through AMCAS or AACOMAS for the waitlist schools will affect your standing at those schools. You wouldn't want to unintentionally withdraw your 2010 application because you were applying to 2011 cycle.

Call your waitlist schools and find out the details from them.
