PS word limit

Anyone know the word limit for the personal statement? Someone on here said 5200 char, others have said 1 page. I'd love to know what it is before I sit down and draft it.. I absolutely loathe the task of cutting down a long PS 🙂

i remember when I was applying 2 years ago that the program cut off the personal statement once printed well before the word limit -- just be careful and check that it isnt cut off --

Maybe its different now, but when I applied you just wrote until it fit in and looked ok. They don't specify a word limit, but keep your audience in mind. PDs will have to read 50-60 so longer isn't necessarily better. Make your statements succinct and precise.

awesome, that's so much better than a rigid limit. What's considered "reasonable" for an ophtho PS? 1-1.5 pages times new roman size 12? at least that's what I was aiming for

I'm willing to bet they don't red more than a page, if that... But what do I know, I haven't started my residency yet. Just based on what they seemed to know of my application.

So I finished writing my PS and it fills up about 80% of the text box on the app. Does this mean I'm in the clear for the word limit? Also, does this mean it will print out on 1 page for those reading my app?

Mind if I ask how many words/char that ended up being? i think there's a preview option...to see if it fills up a page no?

Yeah, thanks I didn't see the preview option. It does fit on a page. It's roughly 800 words and there's room for a little more
