A typical case of pseudotumor cerebri. Asks you which of the following is the best management on long term basis?

A) Weight loss
B) Surgery (shunting)

I am confused between these 2 choices!

What's confusing? Shunt is way down the list of treatment options for IIH. Pretty much all obese patients with IIH should lose weight. Not sure if I'm missing something

I can understand the confusion in the sense that this question might be implying "what's the best long-term definitive management?" In that case, weight loss is still correct, although this does give surgery a slightly greater consideration. Obesity on its own isn't the only risk factor for IIH.
