Well, this is sad but expected. Obamas budget proposal this month includes capping PSLF at $57,500. Most residents/new physicians paying under IBR would have ultimately received ~$240,000 in forgiveness (i.e. ~$370,000 gross income). There is still hope that his budget will be voted down. Please sign this petition and/or email a brief note to your local US rep, and both state senators (I did this AM, took 15min).

Its crazy, nobody gives a crap about physicians (especially new ones). The public perception is that all of them are driving around in Corvettes and own mansions. Not many are respectful or aware of the incredible sacrifice of time and money it takes just to get through training. Shame...

I think a lot of people are aware but a lot of them are in similar situations and make less money. Everyone is hurting now, and the government giving out forgiveness to physicians during a time of cuts was never going to bode well.

Additionally, I and many others don't see learning as a sacrifice. If you want sacrifice, join the armed forces and get paid to go to school.

Yes, I've found if your goal is to complain or blow off steam, post only in your preferred forum. If you're trying to get word out to the medical community/sign petitions, contact legislatures, post in all forums possible (check out the view totals)....did I mention people should contact their representatives? This includes premed/med school/residents.

Personally I'm not too bothered by it. What does bother me is how many people are expecting the government to step in and pay their debts to begin with.
