hi I am a psych PGY1 and i would be doing 3 months of peds rotation. My question is what books should i read or what should i know, when i start my peds rotation. Any input is appreciated. Thanks

if your program offers nelson's online (obviously i would not recommend buying that book for a 3 mo rotation) that is the standard peds book, it has a lot of info. it's available through my library's online system (either on campus or by proxy), i would think that would be fairly helpful.

oh, and maxwell's is basically useless, i would try to find a good table of the normal lab values in peds.

If you have access to Harriet Lane, that is the handbook used by virtually all pediatricians. It also has a good section on normal lab values and drugs. Again, don't buy it for 3 months, but most pediatric wards have a copy floating around in my experience.
