Hello,

Can anyone please recommend a good psychopharm text for my level of training (starting PGY2 psych, has one year of prelim IM)?

Thanks

You're just in time for the new edition.

Essentials of Clinical Psychopharmacology, Second Edition

Edited by Alan F. Schatzberg, M.D., and Charles B. Nemeroff, M.D., Ph.D.

Also,
The granddaddy:
The American Psychiatric Publishing Textbook of Psychopharmacology, Third Edition

Edited by Alan F. Schatzberg, M.D., and Charles B. Nemeroff, M.D., Ph.D.

Check the psychiatry books sticky for the Stahl books as well.

Stahl rocks! 👍

Carry this with you in rounds till you memorize all the facts of all the most commonly used meds. Then add as more obscure drugs are used...you'll find your knowledge base growing quickly.

Hello,

Thankx for the info and the links! Very helpful.

I see the Stahl book is from the UK, are the meds still applicable here? And is the publication year a deterrent?

Thanks!

No, the UK has Prozac in their drinking water -- really!, they do: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/3545684.stm

Of course it's applicable here! Stahl is an American psychiatrist. His books are published by Cambridge University Press.
