any idea if you get the later interview date if that means you are the less preferred candidate?

Don't know but it is better than being waitlisted w/o an interview. I think they just have so many applicants that they take the top tier for interviews, schedule only so many at a time.....and pick as they go. Some people on this forum say they get offers w/in 2 weeks of the interview others seem to wait forever.
