PTCAS e-submit question

So, I have a question regarding e-submitting my PTCAS. I'm currently planning on applying to 2 schools: one with an October 1st deadline and the other with a December deadline. The first school's application is basically complete, while the December one requires much more information such as 3 letters of recommendation and extra observation settings which I haven't completed and wont until October. I was wondering what has to be completed on the PTCAS when you e-submit and what can be edited and added later? Also, when should be the latest I e-submit for the October 1st school? I'm still gaining observation experience so I would like to maximize that.
 
If you go to the instructions section on the PTCAS page (lower left hand corner), it gives a pretty detailed explanation of what you can and can't do after submitting. Especially check out the part labeled Processing and Updating Your File. If you're still unsure send PTCAS an e-mail. They've been really quick to reply to all of my questions, and I've asked a lot of them. I know you can continue to add observation hours after you've submitted your application, but I'm not sure about the references other than you can't delete them once the reference is submitted. I'd recommend giving your references as much time as you can to recommend you so they won't feel rushed to meet the deadline. Good luck!
